Scan Etiquette

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment, relax with a cup of tea or cappuccino and relax in our elegant waiting room before your appointment at SO+GI. You may need to fill out some forms including a brief personal and family medical history.
  • Please bring your doctor’s referral/ request form.
  • Please bring any previous scans relevant to your current pregnancy or gynaecological examination.
  • Children under 6 years are not permitted in the scan room. Our medical defence society has advised against this as young babies and children are invariably distracting.
    If children over 6 years are to accompany you to the appointment, it is essential that you bring another adult to wait with and be responsible for your child during your scan and consultation.
  • Please allow an hour and half for your visit to SO+GI.
  • SO+GI is a practice for female patients only. We ask that gentlemen accompanying their partners do not use the ladies’ toilet in the examination room. Gentleman, please use the unisex toilet near the waiting room.
  • Our waiting room is intended to be a calm, relaxing space, so if you need to take a phone call we would appreciate you moing to the seat outside the door. Please refrain from using a recording device of any kind, audio or video, as SO+GI has obligations of privacy and confidentiality to patients and staff. Such recordings are strictly prohibited.
